Singature Bun Ta dishJust as Quan An Ngon gathers together all manners of street food snacks from across Vietnam, Bun Ta, or “Where Everything is Noodles ('bun' is a round vermicelli noodle in Vietnamese), does the same for noodles, serving up over 30 sorts of bun. To help you choose from so many offerings, the menu divides the noodle dishes into ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ – those with and without broth. After you have completed your circuit of noodle dishes, you might try to the rice plates or grilled beef wrapped in banana leaf, which are also tasty options.

The original Bun Ta is a beautiful villa in Saigon. The one in Hanoi does not boast such an elegant setting, but it is very conveniently located in the center of Hanoi, just next to the Tourist Information Center at the north end of Hoan Kiem Lake. It has a simple but bright and pleasant environment and if are looking to escape the heat, has air conditioning.

Recommended dishes: The signature Bun Ta dish includes tri-coloured noodles topped with traditional herbs and peanuts, shredded pork rind, bean spouts and cabbage strips. Bun Thit Nuong, Cha Gio is a classic, hearty dish of tri-colored noodles, seasoned grilled pork, spring rolls and veggies with a tasty sauce that you can pour over your bowl, mix and devour. For an interesting northern noodle dish, try the Bun Thang which has shredded egg, pork sausage among other ingredients. Bun Ta is also the only place in Hanoi where you can find Bun Hen, a noodle dish with mini-clams from central Vietnam. The delicious pea-sized, pre-shelled clams are delicately seasoned and sautéed, and the dish includes a bowl of broth, which you may pour into your noodles or sip separately with each bite.
